The first photo (left, top) shows the monument as it stood shortly after the original unveiling in 1922.
In the background is the original Ilford Emergency Hospital, which in 1930 became the King George V Hospital. The photo below shows the King and Queen Mary at the official opening ceremony the following year.
The last photo (left, bottom) shows the monument as it is today. Notice the size of the trees compared to the saplings in the first photo. At extreme left corner of the photo, you can just see the Memorial Hall. Notice also the building poking out from behind the trees - this is part of the Memorial Heights residential development that took the place of the King George V Hospital.
